Privacy by Design

Most technical publications treat their readers as a dataset to be mined. Engiprep treats you as a peer. Our privacy policy is simple: we collect the minimum amount of data required to deliver our content, we store it securely, and we never share it.

By using Ghost on our own Oracle VM, we maintain full sovereignty over our data stack. We do not use third-party tracking scripts, advertising networks, or social media pixels. Our goal is to provide a reading environment that is as private as a physical journal.

Hosting & Data Residency

Engiprep is powered by the Ghost CMS and is hosted on a private virtual machine provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This setup ensures that we maintain direct control over the server environment, logs, and database access.

• Server Control: Unlike hosted "SaaS" platforms, our Oracle VM environment is managed strictly by our editorial team.
• Database Security: All member profiles and subscriber data are stored in a secure database on our VM. Access is restricted via SSH keys and firewall rules.
• Logs: Standard web server logs (which may include IP addresses for security and rate-limiting) are kept for a maximum of 14 days before being purged.

Email Communication

We use Ghost’s native membership features to deliver our newsletter tracks. When you provide your email address, it is used exclusively to send the content you have requested.

• No External Trackers: We do not use third-party "tracking pixels" to monitor whether you open an email. Your interaction with our newsletters remains private.
• Delivery Logs: We maintain minimal logs to handle email bounces and delivery failures. We do not sell or share our subscriber list with any third-party marketing entities.
• One-Click Opt-Out: Every email sent includes a functional link to unsubscribe. Your data is handled in accordance with Ghost’s data management protocols on our server.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use the minimum number of cookies required for the site to function. We do not use cookies for behavioral tracking or cross-site advertising.

• Essential Cookies: Ghost uses cookies to manage member sessions and sign-ins. These are necessary to keep you logged in to your account.
• Preferences: We may use local storage to remember your theme preference (Dark vs. Light mode) to ensure a consistent reading experience.
• No Third-Party Cookies: We do not allow third-party services to drop cookies on your device through our domain. Your browser is not a billboard.

Privacy-First Analytics

We want to know which articles resonate with our readers, but we don't need to know who you are to find out. Our analytics approach is designed to be anonymous by default.

We rely on privacy-respecting metrics (often server-side) that do not track individual users across sessions or collect personally identifiable information (PII). We do not fingerprint your browser or store your IP address in a way that can be traced back to you.

Your Data Rights

Regardless of your physical location, we believe you should have full sovereignty over your digital footprint. We honor the principles of the GDPR and other global privacy frameworks.

• Access: You can request an export of the data associated with your member profile at any time.
• Correction: You may update your email address or account details through the "Portal" interface on the site.
• Erasure: You have the "Right to be Forgotten." If you delete your account or contact us to do so, we will purge your data from our Oracle VM database within 30 days.
